Back before the sport was unified into one word, this "Basket Ball" flyer was handed out and/or posted in Springfield, Vermont promoting a split doubleheader between two YMCU teams, Brattleboro High School and Springfield store clerks at Town Hall. The YMCU was created when Unitarians were not allowed in the YMCA, which at the time was a religious operation. This is a superb artifact from the earliest days of the game when basketball was created a few miles south in Springfield, Mass. by Dr. James Naismith.
