This invitation, printed on 5x8" card stock, is an invitation to home Opening Day of the 1987 season for the Brooklyn Bridegrooms and their visitors, the Baltimore Orioles. It reads: "The Brooklyn Ball Club presents its compliments and requests the presence of Yourself and Ladies at Eastern Park on Monday afternoon, May third, to witness the opening in Brooklyn of The National League Base Ball (sic) Championship Season of 1897. Baltimore vs. Brooklyn. Play called - 4 P.M. Please present at entrance." It is in Good to Very Good condition with light staining and mailing folds. The game that day finished in a 3-3 tie, as the Orioles went on to finish second and the Bridegrooms tied for sixth in the 12-team NL.
