The subject of a feature film this past year, J. Edgar Hoover was quite a baseball fan in his day, and was presented with this bat prior to his death by Major League Baseball Commissioner Bowie Kuhn in 1965. Also offered, a signed photo from the founder of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, shown wearing the very cap included in this collection. The navy cap with white FBI lettering shows great use, while the photo is signed: "TO JOHN P. MOHR WITH ALL GOOD WISHES - J. EDGAR HOOVER - 9.22.60." The Adirondack bat measures 33.75", weighs just over two pounds, has Hoover's name emblazoned on it, and features a gold-plated inscription which reads: "PRESENTED WITH BASEBALL'S BEST WISHES TO DIRECTOR OF THE FBI J. EDGAR HOOVER LAW ENFORCEMENT'S MOST VALUABLE PLAYER - BOWIE K. KUHN BASEBALL COMMISSIONER."
