This is a magnificent French advertising poster for the fight between Billy Papke and Willie Lewis at Cirque de Paris in Paris, France on March 19, 1910. Papke knocked Lewis out in the third round and, thinking Stanley Ketchel had relinquished the middleweight title, Papke claimed it after his victory. The poster pictures Papke and features an excellent likeness, bold color and vivid image by artist Emile Gallice. 29.5x60" on linen, some minor chipping. Exceptionally rare.
