Often overlooked when discussing the fabulous career of Muhammad Ali as a professional was his terrific career as an amateur fighter in Louisville, Kentucky under the guidance of police officer Joe Martin. Ali won multiple Golden Gloves titles, intercity titles, Olympic Trials and of course the gold medal in the 1960 Rome Olympics as a light heavyweight. Offered here are a pair of shoes worn by Cassius Clay as an amateur in Louisville. The shoes came right out of the home of Cassius Clay, Sr. The size 13 white leather shoes are well worn and include the original laces. Perfectly intact. Come with a LOA from long time Ali collector Peter Morkovin who purchased the shoes in Louisville and from Craig Hamilton of JO Sports, Inc. Very seldom seen early equipment of the man once known as Cassius Clay.
