This is a brilliantly done painting of heavyweight champion James J. Jeffries on wood, probably dating to the 1920s-30s when Jeffries was making public appearances. Has the look of something that you would see advertising a circus side show. It was obviously part of a larger piece as the wording at the sides is cut off, but the image of Jeffries is well intact with only cut-offs at his shoe, part of right arm and part of left arm. Great patina with no major flaws. Some indentations which do not significantly detract. 11 1/2" x 48."
