Incredible content makes this one of the most thrilling notes we've encountered from the super-star songstress. It's written to her boyfriend at the time, and is one of several we acquired from this boyfriend's ex-wife, whom he married after his relationship with Joplin ended. The letter begins with its typical tone of co-dependence, then goes on to talk about more informative sub-jects, like "...I've just spent an hour teaching Laura a few things & playing the guitar...Nothing new except I went to Beaumont's First & Only Coffee-house (It's billed that way) last week. I'm plan-ning to go again tomorrow & maybe sing a little..." Four-page note (two sheets front and back) closes, "I love you more & more, Janis." An historic document to be sure, as it relates to Joplin's earliest performing days. (From another vendor).
One of Janis Joplin's greatest fans and later friend, Miriam Vermes, has kindly given Leland's the opportunity to offer
her collection of Janis' personally owned belongings. Miriam spent time with Janis in Toronto in 1970 after posing as
a reporter for the Montreal Star. She interviewed Janis at the Waldorf during her Festival Express Tour. Janis was
astounded at the wealth of photos and information about her and allowed Miriam to photograph her and even invited
Miriam to dinner, overnight and even backstage. At one point they traded personal belongings and these Miriam would
now like to see be treasured and displayed. LOA available.
