This typewritten and signed letter by Yankees Hall of Fame pitcher Waite Hoyt is on his own personal stationery and is addressed "Dear Bob". In it, Hoyt explains his disappointment for being unable to go to the Hall of Fame this year, citing his wife's year-long illness as the reason. He says "I am sorry not to see Mantle, and Ford, and Conlan and Bell go into the Hall - but we cannot have everything." The end of the letter contains Hoyt's 8/10 blue ballpoint signature, in addition to a handwritten postscript that says "Johnson was the fastest ever faster by far than Grove, Feller, Vance, Koufax, etc." Letter has a crease, but is otherwise EX-MT.
