This 1970 Nolan Ryan game worn New York Mets road jersey is one of only a few Ryan flannel jerseys known to exist, making it an unbelievable collectors item. The jersey features Ryan's flowing signature in 9/10 blue Sharpie directly below his number on the front left tail. "New York" is proudly displayed across the front in blue-on-orange felt, with "30" directly below. The back features "30" as well. The Mets skyline logo is stitched into the left sleeve. The collar has "30-40-70 Set 1" (player #, size, year) and a "P" has been written in laundry marker to the left of the tag for unknown reasons. The front tail has a Wilson size 40 tag. The jersey shows excellent use but has no discernible rips or tears. Flannel jerseys were discontinued in 1971, which helps to elevate this item to ultra-rare status.
Nolan Ryan recorded a storied career with the New York Mets, California Angels, Houston Astros and Texas Rangers before retiring in 1993. His 5,714 career strikeouts is a mark so unbelievable that few will ever have a chance to come close to touching it. Ryan's radar-melting 100mph+ fastball helped him rack up all those K's, along with eight All-Star team selections, seven no-hitters, and the 1969 World Series. Ryan pitched well into his 40's, and is currently the President of the Texas Rangers baseball club.
