This fantastic flannel of second baseman and manager Joe Gordon features the Yankees home pinstripe. "J. Gordon." is chain stitched in faded red in the collar. A Spalding tag and size 44 tag is also in the collar. The original Baseball Centennial patch ("1839, 1939") is on the left sleeve. An all-original blue felt number "6" is stitched on the back. The year "39" is chain stitched in faded red on the inside back tail. The jersey shows fine use with three small repairs (patches on the inside). There are blood stains on the inside of the neck, and a couple of tiny holes to the left of the two bottom buttons. The "NY" on the left breast of the jersey was removed when it was sent to the minors, but this can be restored. This jersey comes with a letter from Dr. Angrist stating that it was on display in The New York Yankees Hall of Fame Museum from July 2009 until the Spring of 2010. "Flash" wore this during his second year with the Yanks, and in 1942 won the American League MVP award. Seven times he hit 20 home runs in a season, and in 2009 was elected by the Veterans Committee to the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
