The Mullin wit extraordinaire is on display here as he recites his version of "Spahn and Sain and a day of rain". In "Pals", Mullin parodies Longfellow's "Hiawatha". "One there was who had the right arm, made of oak to win the ballgame, Johny Sain he, husky moundsman, and the lefty Spahn man Warren". The Braves' hopes in the 1948 World Series hung on the arms of this mythic duo. The cartoon sports a fantastic image of the Boston Brave. But, what was he smoking? Alas, it was just a "pipe dream", as the Indians defeated the Braves. Given that the Boston Braves appeared in only one World Series on Mullin's watch, this maybe his only remaining Braves World Series cartoon! Near mint. 21"x 22" framed.
