On May 7, 1987 the “Golden Boy” Donny Lalonde and Mustafa Hamsho fought at Madison Square Garden in New York for the vacant WBC Continental Americas Light Heavyweight Championship. Lalonde won a 12 round decision to win the title. Offered here are the fight worn gloves used by Donny Lalonde in that bout and the championship belt he was awarded for winning it. The gloves are red leather and have the manufacturer’s label for Everlast. Each glove is marked on the backhand “CONTINENTAL AMERICAS LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE DONNY LALONDE W-12 MUSTAFA HAMSHO MAY 7. 1987 N.Y.C.” (MSG). Gloves are in excellent condition, missing the laces. The championship belt measures 48” long, has a purple and black sash and consists of three plates. The center plate has all original 41 stones and reads “WBC AMERICAS CHAMPION”. The left plate is inscribed “WBC CONTINENTAL AMERICAS LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE DONNY LALONDE W-12 MUSTAFA HAMSHO NEW YORK CITY MAY 7, 1987”. The right plate is inscribed “DONNY “GOLDEN BOY” LALONDE WBC CONTINENTAL AMERICAS LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION 1987”. In excellent condition, the gloves and belt came from the collection of Dave Wolf who managed Donny Lalonde, Ray Mancini and Lonnie Bradley. Dave Wolf passed away several months ago. LOA from Craig Hamilton of JO Sports, Inc. who purchased these items from the estate of Dave Wolf.
