Notes: This historically significant photo, dated 1900, is of the signing of the original contract to build the New York City subway system. Attached to the matting is a placard with the facsimile signatures of the Board of Rapid Transit Commissioners as well as the contractors. The oak frame is original with a wooden back secured by nails. The glass is also original and is the imperfect type with waves in the glass. The photograph measures 14"x16" surrounded by a 2.5" matting and the frame is 22"x25".
Condition: EX-MT with some minor staining on the matting at the base.
