An unbelievable find from this Hall of Fame Negro Leaguer. Judy Johnson was the Negro League’s premier third baseman of the 1920’s-30’s, and coach for the Philadelphia Athletics after baseball’s color barrier was broken. He is widely regarded as the “black Pie Traynor”. Soft wool cap is dark navy and simply adorned with an embroidered daisy on the front (once yellow in color, now almost completely faded to white). No other markings or tags. Shows strong signs of use to the inside leather sweatband. Originally obtained directly from Judy Johnson.
