William H Rothwell, aka Young Corbett II, and Jimmy Britt have both signed this one page contract dated Jan 14th 1904 to fight for the Featherweight Championship of the World on March 25th 1904. Rothwell has signed this incredible document with both his given name and his nickname "Young Corbett II". Britt has signed his name below Rothwell, and while both signatures, as well as the document's ink has faded somewhat, both the magnitude of its importance and the rarity of both signatures simply cannot be overstated. Britt died in 1940, Young Corbett II in 1927. Both men are members of the "Ring" Hall of Fame. Being that the Ring Hall of Fame is the pool from which the current Hall of Fame selects its old-timers, there is virtually no doubt that both Britt and Corbett II's induction into the current Hall of Fame are not a question of "if" but "when." Two vertical and one horizontal fold. One of the fold lines has been reinforced with tape on the verso. There is another stray piece of tape and some scrapbook residue on the verso as well. Needless to say, these signatures are extremely rare, and possibly unique.
