Beautiful 30" high sterling silver Olympic torch from the bittersweet 1972 Olympics in Munich represents the enduring spirit of the Olympic ideal, even in times of horrific tragedy. It was in Munich that the Games were marred by the murder of the Israeli Olympic team by terrorists. Though their hearts were heavy, the world's greatest athletes completed the events, not giving in to hatred and terror. Engraving on handle reads, "Spiele der XX. Olympiade" and base of the handle engraved "Krupp" with three Olympic rings. An elegant mirrored disk separates the handle from the flame. EX+.
