Baseball used in a game by the New York Black Yankees of the Negro National League, a team founded by the dancer Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. Written in ink on one panel is "1938 NY Black Yanks". The other panels list the names of the players on the team, most written in block letters, but a couple are clearly signed in script. Names written in block letters include Bill Holland, Rev Cannady, Josh Johnson, Roy Williams, and more. Two of the names that are clearly signed are Jim Starks and John Stanley who has added a "P" for pitcher after his name. The ball is heavily toned. The writing is often light, but legible. A rare relic from this popular league.
