This October 1948 issue of Sport magazine may have been published almost 30 years after the 1919 Chicago Black Sox scandal, but it is the first time Shoeless Joe Jackson opens up and tells his side of the story. The story is by Joe Jackson as told to Furman Bisher, the article's author and included with a vintage copy of the magazine are the original type written notes used to create the story. The condition of the magazine is VG. The back cover has separated from the binding and some of the pages have edge tears or wear. The colors of the cover image, Christy Mathewson the World Series Shut Out King, are vibrant, and so are many of the interior photographs and illustrations, though some pages do have a fair amount of yellowing. The Black Sox scandal is perhaps the most notorious scandal in baseball history thus far and this affords us a bird’s eye view into the scandal from one of its most famous and most affected participants.
