This panoramic team photo is of the 1929 World Series Champion Philadelphia Athletics, regarded by many as one of the greatest baseball teams ever assembled. This team was built and managed by the great Connie Mack. The term "Mack Attack”, is named for the legendary manager of the Athletics, became a part of the baseball lexicon after the stunning events of this series against the Joe McCarthy led Chicago Cubs. The Athletics overcame an eight-run deficit by scoring ten runs in the 7th inning of Game 4. The inning featured an infamous Cubs moment when center fielder Hack Wilson lost Mule Haas' fly ball in the sun resulting in a bases-clearing, inside-the-park, home run. The A's won in five games. This nicely framed photo is 12 x 34 1/2” and is in EX condition overall. A few small tears in the photo are visible through the glass, but are peripheral to the players. The entire 1929 roster is captured here including HOFers Eddie Collins, Mickey Cochrane, Lefty Grove, Jimmy Foxx, Al Simmons and manager Connie Mack. Very impressive.
