Dan Topping was part owner and president of the baseball NY Yankees and NFL Brooklyn Dodgers franchises. He wanted to move the Brooklyn football team to Yankee Stadium but Tim Mara, Giants owner would not permit it. So he ultimately moved the Dodgers to the new upstart AAFC league and the New York Yankees football team was born.
