The Birth of a Champion is a 1939 film about the 1919 Dempsey-Willard fight won by Dempsey in the 4th round. This movie by Fistic Film Co., was the first time the great 1919 bout could legally be shown to the public, after the racial fallout following the 1912 Jeffries vs. Johnson film distribution across the US prompted a ban of fight films. This advertising poster was to promote the "first showing on any screen" of the film. It measures 28" x 22" and has some creasing and a 3" tear on the top edge and a 1" tear along the bottom edge but is otherwise in fine condition with strong bold color.
