At 5'4" tall and 120lbs. it is not hard to see why he was nicknamed "Bitsy", but his size certainly didn't keep him from being ranked in tennis' top ten, in fact he was able to achieve that honor 9 times throughout his career which spanned from 1930-1941. This collection of photographs has both on court action shots as well as publicity shots. There are even a few photos of the tennis great in his soldier's uniform after fighting in the pacific during WWII. The photos range in size from 4 x 8" to 8 x 10" and are primarily news wire photos, many which have the original news items attached to the verso. The quality ranges from G to VG with some creasing and wrinkling and minor age discoloration.
