Original photo of Satchel Paige during his 2 season tenure with the Cleveland Indians in 1948 and 1949. Paige was known for his "Hesitation Pitch" which was ultimately ruled to be a balk and illegal. Chicago Cubs broadcaster Jack Brickhouse is quoted as saying jokingly that Paige "threw a lot of pitches that were not quite "legal" and not quite '"llegal". Photo is horizontal in format, 10" x 8", and is in EX-MT condition with just a few creases. Paige was the first black pitcher in the American League and the seventh in the big leagues overall.
