Exceedingly rare and historically significant 4.25 x 6.5'' cabinet card of the 1879 Yale Football team with a young Walter Camp standing third from the left, football in hand. At the time that this photo was taken, the game of Football was played more like Rugby. Camp is the man who transformed the game into what we know today and is recognized as the creator of the modern game of Football. Later, his annual, handpicked all-star teams were held in high national esteem. Ornate graphics on the back of the mount identify this photo as from the noted photographic studio of GW Pach (Pach Bros). A tack hole is visible at the top of the mount and there is light corner wear to the edges. However, the image is very clear. A museum quality piece!
