Having difficulty gaining the respect that he deserved in Minnesota,
Dennis Maruk’s rights were relinquished to the Washington Capitals
early in the 1978-79 season. Maruk would prove his worth over the
next five seasons in the nation’s capital before being traded back to
Minnesota in 1983. Maruk’s offensive ability, speed, and precision
were always impressive. His 90 points to lead the Capitals in scoring
while wearing this Wilson manufactured 1978-79 jersey was equally
impressive. Maruk’s name has been removed from the back which
formerly sat on a nameplate. Wilson size 46 tag in the collar. The
bottom hem has been custom shortened approximately 2 ?” to fit
Maruk’s 5’8” frame. Light stick marks throughout the front with
popped stitching on the letters “C, A, P, and S” in Capitals. One
repair on the front red hem stripe with a board scrape to its lower
left. Right sleeve displays a few stick marks with pilling at the
elbow and armpit areas. Upper front left shoulder shows additional
stick work. One board burn and light stick marks smatter the left
sleeve. Loop style fight strap sewn on in three places: on both
numbers and in between on the jersey material. A couple light marks
on the mark to note as well. Only nine players have scored more goals
in a single season than Maruk’s 60.
