Originally purchased from the estate of his mother, this black ink drawing was taken from the art book Sutcliffe submitted as an admission requirement to Liverpool's Royal College of Art. As the original Beatles bassist, Sutcliffe accompanied the group on their first trip to Hamburg where he met, and fell in love with photographer Astrid Kirscherr. He was the first in the group to adopt the new hairstyle that evolved into the Beatle cut. Stuart's tenure with the group, although short-lived, is part of Beatles lore. Sadly, Stuart died of a brain hemorrhage in 1962. It was suspected that a beating he suffered while with the Beatles on one of their tours was a contributing factor. The sketch itself measures (6.5x9"), and is matted and framed with a copy of a classic Astrid Kirscherr image of Stuart, John, and George. LOA.
