This pair of Mint, unused Suffolk Downs tickets for the group's Boston appearance on August 18, 1966 was acquired from the concert's co-promoter Gerald Roberts in 1987. His LOA explains that he and Frank Connelly booked the racetrack for $1,000 without mentioning the purpose for which it was to be used. Incidentally, the track's owner was Major League Baseball magnate, Bill Veeck. Many of the venues on this final Beatles tour did not sell out, partly as a backlash that resulted from John Lennon's misconstrued statement that the Beatles "were bigger than Jesus." Roberts wisely retained the unsold tickets from that performance. From a different vendor.
