Sporting a style of play rarely seen in baseball today, Roberto Clemente left an indelible mark on the game in his all too brief life. The consistently brilliant Clemente won four National League batting titles and often made spectacular leaping and diving catches in the outfield. This cap was game worn by the hall of famer during the (circa)1968 Pirates season. A yellow Pirates "P" embroidered on a black 1-3/4" x 1-7/8" patch is stitched on the front of the cap, 1968 being the only year that the Pirates wore this style cap. In fact, Clemente can be seen wearing this style on his 1969 Milton Bradley game card, the photo having ostensibly been taken in 1968. It doesn't get much better than that! "New Era Pro Model" manufacturer's tag sewn into the inside rear, size flag tag is faded, cap appears to be a size 6-7/8 to 7. Cap shows heavy use with Clemente's faded number "21" written in marker underneath the bill.
