One fine cap, this blue and red-billed classic, once fitted upon the greatest southpaw in the history of baseball, Warren Spahn, circa 1948. Spahn had returned from WWII in ’46, with a Purple Heart and Bronze Star, making his ’48 season only his 3rd complete year of play, in a career that lasted until 1965. The outside is in superb condition with the only flaw being the missing button on the top. "B" in felt on the front is all original. Inside cap is a size “6 7/8” flag tag. "Spahn" is chain-stitched in red thread on a filthy inner band. No other tagging. Signed (6/10) under the brim in blue felt tip pen.
