The muted off-white color and short dark blue brim of this cap immediately remind you of the oldest days of baseball when men like Cap Anson were still pioneering the game. The Captain’s cap was found with the other Anson items in this auction and it dates back to the turn of the century. It was certainly Anson’s, although we are not certain what he wore it for. Spalding tag is still intact but the leather lining has all but disintegrated with only a small remnant remaining. The Anson family loaned this cap to an institution for a period of time and the tag and inventory number can still be found inside. An amazing cap from "Cap."
