Historically, this 1941 Cleveland Indian’s scorecard chronicles and symbolically brings to a close (and thus, truly defines) the greatest hitting streak in baseball history - still, and forever, unbroken, that of Joe DiMaggio’s 56-game hitting streak. The game, scored in neat pencil, and won by the Yankees, would have been # 57, but Joe grounded out in the first inning, leaving this red 12-page booklet of that July 17th night contest a testament to DiMaggio’s greatness, and untouchable limit. In VG-EX condition, the actual scorecard carries the penciled-in date, “7-17”. A legendary item!
