Replacing Sid Abel in The Production Line, Alex Delvecchio quickly emerged to fill a key role in The Production Line II. Playing alongside Ted Lindsay and Gordie Howe, Delvecchio developed into one of the most famous Captain's in Red Wings history while spending his entire career in Hockeytown spanning 24 illustrious seasons. After playing just one game with the Red Wings in 1950-51, Delvecchio made his mark the following season as Detroit powered itself to a Stanley Cup championship in 1951-52. This Red Wings sweater has been maintained in immaculate condition for its age. Five small un-repaired holes in the single layer shoulder yokes and neckline. One un-repaired rip in the back right cuff area. One small un-repaired hole in the back left sleeve. Two repairs are displayed on the front of the right cuff area. Beautiful and original Red Wings crest is chain-stitched in white onto the thin red twill material underneath forming the logo that has withstood the test of time. Light sweat stains are evident on both cuff areas along with light stick marks and board burns scattered throughout both sleeves. Sweat stains on the front and back of the lower hem area. Spotted blood stains on the collar's right side and on the interior of the neckline on the red piping. To top off this outstanding sweater, we find a Lippman's - Detroit tag alongside a Coane - Phila, PA size 46 fly tag. This jersey displays the tradition that exudes Red Wings hockey along with the Hall of Fame caliber of Alex Delvecchio. Fantastic!
