A divine wand, and certainly a standout in baseball's timberland of great bats, from the New York giant, “Master” Mel Ott - one of the greatest hitters in history. The big stick shows a deluge of use, crowned by this big-hearted right-fielder in the 1930’s as he post-seasoned his Giants to three National League pennants and one World Series title (’33). Wielded by a slugger in his prime, the Depression Era was thrilled by the Hall of Famer hitting 300+ homers, participating as an All-Star from ’34 on, and grinding out a 21-game hitting streak in ’37, all accumulating towards his 511 career homers, .533 slugging, and .304 batting average. Bat was obtained from Ott himself at Sportsman’s Park circa 1938, and carries his burned-on signature that matches factory records for that decade’s particular style. Cracked and repaired, this glorious timber is finished with tar explosions, bat rack blues and reds, battle nicks, and other game abuses. Weighs 32 ounces, and tips at 35 inches.
