Put together by baseball player and sports merchandise magnate Arthur Goodwill Spalding, the Spalding World Tour took players from the entire league, which only consisted of sixteen teams at the time, and traveled across the world, playing games in exotic locales and promoting Spalding merchandise. This dazzling photo captures the exhilarating tour, which included future Hall of Famers Adrian "Cap" Anson and John Montgomery Ward. They are at the hotel about to leave on camelback for their game at the pyramids. The players trumpet out markedly as they are taller then everyone else on the camels! Picture has very good contrast, restoration has been done to the bottom and the top has been slightly trimmed. Measures 14 by 9 1/4 inches.
