In the summer of 1987, Joe Sakic was selected 15th overall in the NHL Entry
Draft by the Quebec Nordiques after the team chose Brian Fogarty ninth
overall with its other pick in the first round. Just days into his first
training camp with the Nordiques, Sakic told Quebec management he would
rather spend another year in junior to prepare for the NHL. That year proved
profitable for the Nordiques. Sakic scored 62 points in 70 games during his
rookie campaign in 1988-89. As Quebec struggled in the late 80's and early
90's, Sakic excelled. Having spent his entire career with the same
organization, this Sakic jersey brings you back to the roots of the Colorado
Avalanche. This CCM Ultrafil jersey is aptly lettered with Sakic's
traditional #19 and his named silk screened onto a nameplate on the back.
Also, the Alternate Captain's "A" is nicely silk screened to the left chest.
Maska Ultrafil and size 54 tagging in the neck. This jersey is game issued
intended to be used by Sakic. The jersey shows no game use whatsoever.
