.406. One by one, the giants of the past depart but their legacies do not. The memory Ted Williams left behind will forever rest upon a batting average in 1941. Sixty-one years later, nobody has been back. The .400 wall has been unassailable, too demanding for any to do what he had done by the age of 23. Still, there is so much more to the legend of Williams, a career of many colors, monumental feats, and acts of heroism that extended far beyond the chalk lines of the baseball diamond. For those reasons, and many more, we are proud to offer his 1955 game used jersey. Its classic gray flannel body owns a simple elegance with "Boston" stretching across the front in navy blue felt letters and his number "9" on the verso. The trimmed front tail which was a custom of Williams at points in his career has tagging from "Tim McAuliffe, Inc." of Boston, Mass. and "55" (year), "46 2in" (size/alteration), and "9" (player number) chain-stitched in navy thread. Entirely original, it displays a small 1/8" hole above the number on back and the "N" in "Boston". Light brown spotting along the lower right portion of the front is the only other issue on this rare treasure graded "8.5" out of a possible "10". Includes LOA. One of the finest specimens found outside of the Hall of Fame.
