Though the 1934 American all-star tour of Japan is widely considered the tour that changed Japanese baseball forever, this previous 1931 squad certainly had its influence, and was the forerunner of things to come. Led by star Lou Gehrig, it hopped from Hawaii to Japan and played local all-star team from those regions. The complete United States All Star team that traveled to Japan in 1931 has signed this Official National League (Heydler) baseball. Lou Gerhig, Rabbit Maranville, Lefty O' Doul, George Kelly, Tony Lazzeri, and more, jotted their autographs on a ball that has a game used appearance, while its signatures average 7-8/10. The Gehrig signature is a strong 7, but was partially signed over a dark scuff on the ball, so the contrast is not perfect.
