Despite an inconsistent regular season, the Niners began to play like the champions they were a year prior when playoff time arrived. A few short weeks later they found themselves once again on football's biggest stage squared off against a hungry Cincinnati team. Like two great heavyweights exchanging blow for blow, the game went back and forth for three and a half quarters. Finally with just 3:20 left on the clock San Fran found itself down 16-13 and needing one more miracle from All-Time QB Joe Montana. Needless to say, he would not disappoint. Montana connected on five consecutive passes to move the ball to the Bengals 35. A holding penalty moved the ball back 10 yards, but Montana responded with a 27-yard completion to Rice and another first down. A quick hit to Craig, followed by a timeout, left the Niners with second and two from the Bengals 10-yard line. Following the timeout, Montana hit WR John Taylor in the middle of the end zone for a touchdown and San Francisco had their third Super Bowl title of the decade. Offered is a one of a kind prototype 1989 Super Bowl Championship ring. The 10K stunner boasts four dazzling czs on its face surrounded by raised lettering that reads "San Francisco-World Champions-1989". On the left shank is "Montana"and "49ers" along with the team helmet design. On the opposite side in the same raised text is "Back to Back" and "Team Of The Decade" with an eye catching design that includes four Lombardi Trophies and the Golden Gate Bridge. Had it not been for a last second change, this would have been the exact ring presented to the champs, but this offering now exists as possibly the most unique prototype from one of the greatest teams ever to take the field. NRMT, size 11.
