It was a pivotal moment in the life of our future President. He was to nominate Al Smith for the Presidential election at the 1928 Democratic National Convention in Houston and needed to walk out to the rostrum. He went supported by his leg braces and the trained muscular arms of his sons and was able to give the appearance of walking. Here he stands erect and proud; proof positive that he could withstand the rigors of the Presidency four years later. This panorama is 17x7" and folded. Otherwise EX-MT. AP markings.
