University of Michigan was among the co-founders of the “Big Ten”, America’s oldest athletic conference, in 1896. Since then, Wolverines have compiled an amazing record of victories in football, basketball and other sports, and this amazing game-worn basketball jersey dates to 1918. The vintage jersey features the tan (maize) and blue team colors, with an “M” sewn on the front and “1” appearing on the back. The frugality of the times is very nicely evidenced by the dozen or so hand-sewn repairs, perhaps the most we have seen on such an item. The jersey has both historic significance and visible character, and will merit a central place in any collection. Overall condition of this well-worn relic is Good......but looks like a million bucks.
