Offered here is an unused ticket from Game 5 of the 1972 National League Championship Series, where in a nail biter of an ending, the Cincinnati Reds beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, and moved on into the World Series. In the bottom of the ninth inning, the Pirates were only 3 outs away from a trip to the World Series, when, in dramatic fashion, Cincinnati’s lead-off Johnny Bench hit a home run to tie the score. Two outs later, George Foster, who had slowly made his way to third base, excitingly scored the winning run as he came home off of a gut-wrenching wild pitch by Pirate Bob Moose. But this ticket’s most notable, and heart-breaking, aspect is that this was the last game in which baseball was graced with the presence of Pirate Hall of Famer and legendary batting champ, Roberto Clemente. A few months later Clemente would sadly die in a plane crash. Full, unused ticket is EX-MT condition.
