Continuing the tradition of offering our clients the finest and rarest of Negro and Latin Baseball memorabilia, we once again are proud to present one of the scarcest baseball artifacts extant. This 1948-49 Venezuelan complete set in its original album is one of only two complete sets (in album format) know to exist. Finding individual cards from this set is also an extremely difficult task with few in circulation. The album contains (101) professional Venezuelan baseball players, (10) cards of baseball officials, (18) umpires and 256 cards of amateur players in Venezuela including (43) cards of women players. Cards of significant players including some Negro Leaguers are James Pendleton, Sam Nahem, Gentry Jessup, Martin Tabacheck, Roy Welmaker, Parnell Woods, Guigui Lucas, Tony Zardon, Chico Carrasquel, Chucho Ramos, Vidal Lopez, Carlos Ascanio, Luis Aparicio (his true rookie card) and Ortega. Unfortunately, the front cover has long since disappeared; however the back cover is still present and the overall condition of the album pages is EX. Some of the album pages have separated from the string, which binds them to the album. The cards themselves are all in tremendous condition and appear to be nearly all EX or better with several EX-MT and NM examples. Obviously, it is impossible to tell what condition the backs are going to be in should one choose to remove them from the construction paper. However, from our experience in the past, many of the cards from this time period and part of the world were glued into albums with cheap water based glue and can be removed without damage to the backs. The team names and page titles have been stenciled in with a silkscreen technique, which gives the album a personal and artistic touch. Simply put, this should be considered a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire a truly scarce piece of baseball history. .
