In what is the only known original example of its kind to exist, HOFer Roy Campanella is featured in this Vargas team photo taken during the "Liga de Beisbol Profesional de Venezuela'' inaugural season of 1946. A few short months later he would be signed by the Dodgers by Branch Rickey, eventually becoming the first catcher to break the color line in professional baseball. The 4.5" x 7.5" photo exhibits nice contrast and clarity along with strong corners and edges; the reverse has some ink and pencil markings, overall EX-MT. Upon closer inspection of this rare Latin League relic one could also find 1950 NL Rookie of the Year Sam Jethroe amongst Campy's teammates. Simply spectacular!
