Elegant and vintage, this trophy is directly from Pete Rose's hands, along with his signed Letter of Authenticity. The award has a black, wooden base with a sterling silver plaque on which is engraved "The Sports Nippon Award, Pete Rose, 1978-1979, Man of the Year". The award climbs (9") upward into a sterling silver cup design (6" diameter), its rim ornate with delicate flower petal and leaf design. A highly coveted award from Japan, it was presented to Rose for his incredible and historic year (44 game hitting streak and 3000th hit). Also, this was the year that Pete traveled to Japan with the Reds to play in a goodwill tour. His affiliation with the famed Mizuno Company was also cemented during this visit. EX-MT. It is a rare find and a must for any collector of Rose memorabilia.
