The hit parade was in full swing on August 15, 1980. That was the day that Pete Rose stroked hit number 3,500. Official National League ball (Feeney) has two notations on it. The first is in red ink and is printed - "August 15 1980 Hit # 3500 Against Mets Pitcher Tom Hausman Phila 8 Mets 0." The second one is a vintage inscription in blue felt tip that reads "To Billy & Kate My Good Wishes Pete Rose" (Billy and Kate Demars, who were good friends with Rose). Ball shows excellent usage with a couple of spots that obviously made excellent contact with bats. Significant hit ball, as only four other players in history (Cobb, Aaron, Musial and Speaker) have reached this milestone. LOA on Reds stationary signed by Pete.
