This is an example of the original artwork that was produced for the Victory card series. This piece was hand-drawn under the direction of the Moll Agency’s Charles Steinbacher. The hero James Jordan, R.A.F. was all set to be Card number 14 (note the pencil mark with that number 14 on the lower right corner). The heavy black pen & ink drawing was done right on this board. The tracing paper overlay has the colored pencil markings which added the color to the original artwork. The artist was able to even add more detail with color--notice the power of the water and the strength of the British ship in the background. Collectors value this series of artwork because it is one-of-a-kind and was never produced in a finished card form. Measuring 5 1/2 x 8”.
