Printed in 1884, this detailed lithograph presents individual portraits of twenty Confederate Generals (Gray Coat Gang) in full uniform. Renowned for their ability and bravery, the Confederate General staff confronted a far more numerous and better-equipped Union army. Here are wonderful images of Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, G.T. Beauregard, Jubil Early, J. E. B. Stuart and all the others whose exploits, heroics and tragedies we’ve come to know and often respect. The lightly tinted sepia lithograph printed by The Sherman Publishing Co., NY, measures 27 1/2 x 21 1/2” and is framed under glass to an overall size of 31 1/2” x 24 1/2”. The frame appears original, and shows some edge and corner wear. The print is wholly intact, with some evidence of water staining along the right border and overall light spotting. Condition is VG-EX.
