“Boxing style” posters were fashioned after the “Fight Night” posters of the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s. The printers of these posters announcing the lineups at the boxing matches were employed to create concert posters for blues musicians in the mid ‘50s. To make it simpler for themselves, they adapted the boxing style posters to their new business of concert promotion. This poster is trumpeting James Brown and Revue coming to the Rhode Island Auditorium in Providence on October 4, 1968, along with an 18 piece orchestra.
