Some say the impossible became possible in 2004 when the Boston Red Sox finally broke the Curse of the Bambino and won their first World Series since 1918. A few non-believers in Red Sox Nation may find it hard to fathom that it actually happened. This NRMT-MT official World Series ball serves as proof miracles do exist. There is minimal ink smudging from the signatures on the ball, which has no scuff marks and is in excellent condition. First-year manager Terry Francona’s signature rests on the sweet spot of the ball, which includes the names of 22 members of the championship club known as ‘The Idiots’. Players who signed the ball include fabled pitcher Curt Schilling, MVP Manny Ramirez, team captain Jason Varitek, ‘Big Papi’ David Ortiz, Johnny Damon, Keith Foulke and the man who recorded the final out to make the dream a reality, first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz.
