Every sport has those that alter the way the game is played. The innovative Dr. J was one of those select few. He was a Harlem Globetrotter type ball handler that performed feats never before seen: midair spins and whirls punctuated by powerful slam dunks. Erving was one of the first to bring individual expression to the hardwood. This style would prove to be a harbinger of the direction the NBA would take in the following decades, and probably for as long as kids dribble basketballs down the street. This 1983 set of warm-up jacket and pants was worn by the Good Doctor in 1983. The outfit is white with red and blue trim. Jacket has 76’ers logo on chest and NBA logo on lower right front. Inside collar has all tagging; “Wilson 42”, “83...6” and the Pearson Sporting Goods tag. Reverse has “Sixers” across the back. Excellent wear overall. Warm-up pants are the same colors as the jacket with snaps down the side. Two inside tags in waist, “Wilson 34” and “83...6” patch. Wear on pants matches the jacket perfectly. From Erving’s only NBA Championship season.
